Confess

OVERVIEW:

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.
For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.
The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

REVIEW:

This review is going to be hard to write.. Because I don’t want to give away the details that you guys should read for yourselves. Seriously though! There’s a lot of layers in this story.. Ok so here goes..
The first part of the book tells the story about 15 years old Auburn and Adam, her bf at that time. He’s in his death bed and they were saying their goodbyes, and that’s when the tears start falling!!

And it was only the first 4 pages... Then the 1st chapter is now about Auburn 5 years later.. And that’s where she met Owen by “fate”? Well ok I can agree with that.
Owen is the other narrator in the book... He’s a local artist in Dallas, Texas and his work is pretty unique. Outside his studio is a confession box wherein people can leave anonymous confessions... well here’s an example from the book “Every day I’m grateful that my husband look exactly alike. It means there’s less of a chance that my husband will find out that our son isn’t his”! And all sort of things like that. When Owen likes the confession he will paint it and he turns it into art... Is there an art gallery that does this sort of thing? Well if so I would like to out a confession and hopefully see it in art form haha..

There are other side characters like Lydia, (Adam’s mother), Trey (Adam’s brother), Emory (Auburn’s roommate), Cal (Owen’s dad), and Harrison (Owen’s friend). And there is a mystery character that I won’t mention because it’s going to be such a big spoiler! Well the story goes like they met and they fell in love, but there’s a lot of incident and reasons why they can’t be together.. And the story ends.. I’m not going to tell the ending but you guys won’t miss out that much on the ending.

So did I like this book? I would say.. the first part was excellent! The death bed part.. And the idea of confessions turned into art. That’s brilliant! And also how the book has pictures of Owen’s painting in it. The main characters were ok and of course there’s always despicable characters well that’s their role. I get a little Nicholas Sparks vibe with this book, you know a little love story and tragic’ish. All in all it was ok for me and yes I would recommend it for those who love sad/happy love stories.

RATING:

3.5
